In 2021 we began a process of ongoing formative evaluation with a focus on learning using the Critical Friend methodology for the 2nd consecutive European Presidency Projects funded by the European Commission DEAR programme and implemented by three national NGDO platforms (VENRO Germany, Plataforma ONGD Portugal, SLOGA Slovenia) )and CONCORD Europe. 

Our role as Critical Friends has been to enhance reflection and learning between the platforms on how they engage with each other and with CONCORD structures, how they can use that engagement better for mutual gains etc. 

During this period, we conducted a real-time learning evaluation based on the Critical Friend methodology, permanently adapted to respond to the needs of the partners.

Means of Critical Friend Learning Process

For the purposes of this evaluation we used a mix of tools and techniques for collecting and analyzing data from the four partners, as well as instruments for creating input and discussions.

Our team provided regular reporting on progress achieved on these goals, as well as support to articulate outcomes and monitor impact.
