Paula Boarță

Biography

Paula’s special skill is unearthing authentic stories and voices from local communities. Paula is a journalist and social justice professional with academic degrees in Journalism, Comparative Literature and Sociology. Her work as a journalist has been focused on documenting and reporting the situation of vulnerable groups, human rights abuses and giving voice to people to be able to express their own needs and propose solutions. She has also organised and co-hosted multiple events and foreign press-trips to highlight the situation of families children living in extreme deprivation and to promote solidarity in claimimng rights. After many years of documenting stories, Paula has also worked directly as a social pedagogue with children living in extreme poverty in Romania. 

Paula is also a skilled and passionate photographer, whose photos have won awards and been featured in exhibitions about topics such as housing deprivation, gender relations, street vending and ethnographic documentation. 

Since 2022, in addition to the multiple journalism and socio-cultural initiatives she is currently involved in, Paula teaches civic education to children in two rural communities in Romania.
